Product Description

It occurred to us that a number of people would like to install the Kartboy STi front shifter bushing at the same time as the TiC STi Shift Linkage Bushings. In fact, a number of people suggested that we put together a kit with both bushings. We liked that idea so we got in touch with Tom over at Kartboy and had him ship us some of his STi front shifter bushings, and the TiC STi Klicky Kit was born.

To understand how this works you have to understand what each bushing does.

The TiC STi Shift Linkage Bushings replace the soft rubber bushings in the actual shift linkage joint. Over time the stock soft rubber bushings begin to "pack out" contributing to the problem of slop at the end of the stick. With the stock bushings the slop will get worse and worse until not only does it become almost impossible to find the gear you want, but also dangerous if you need to quickly pick a gear and shift into it. By replacing the shift linkage bushings with our much stiffer polyurethane bushings side to side slop will be minimized, packing out will no longer be a problem, and your shifts will snap into place with much more positive engagement. All this with minimal NVH compared to stock.

The Kartboy STi front shifter bushing replaces the soft rubber front stay bushing. The front stay is one of two hard mounting points for the entire shifter assembly. When you shift hard the front stay tends to compress the stock rubber bushing, making for a mushy, uncertain feeling. By upgrading the front stay bushing to the much stiffer Kartboy STi shifter bushing you'll be upgrading the forward and back feeling of the stick, letting you shift with more confidence and better feeling as you snap from gear to gear. Kartboy's bushings have been proven time and time again to be of the highest quality, and is typically one of the first mods done to many STi's out there.

When you combine both of these bushings you end up with how the STi shifter should have felt from the factory. To paraphrase one customer, this is not a comfort mod, this is a performance mod.

As for the price - you could buy the TiC bushings from us, and turn around and get the Kartboy bushing direct from Kartboy or any number of other vendors. If you did so you'd end up paying $62 for the equivalent kit. We got to thinking about that. $62 isn't really that bad for what this gets you, but come on, $62?! What's with that stupid 2 hanging out on the end? We thought that was kind of dumb. How about we just call it an even $60 and be done with it? Besides, you'll get both bushings in the same package instead of one at a time, and if you're anything like us, when a part arrives you want to put it on right now, not sit around waiting for the next bit to show up.

Attention 06 STi owners - we have run into a situation where Subaru has used the 04/05 linkage on some of the 06 STis. If your control rod/linkage core is GOLD in color then you need the 04/05 kit. If your control rod/linkage core is dark green in color you need the 06 kit.
