Product Description

So you've got your lever of choice, be it the stock lever, the SPT/STi lever, or the Kartboy lever, but you still need bushings. And Man, you mean bushings. Front. Rear. Linkage. The whole deal. We know what you mean, and we're here to help you out. Really. We like helping people (just ask anyone that knows us), and to help you out we would like to introduce you to the TiC Bodacious Bushing Bundle.

This kit is made up of three parts.

  • Front bushing? Got it thanks to Kartboy.
  • Rear Bushing? Got it, also thanks to Kartboy.
  • How about those shift linkage bushings? We've got those too.

To understand how this works you have to understand what each part does.

The TiC STi Shift Linkage Bushings replace the soft rubber bushings in the actual shift linkage joint. Over time the stock soft rubber bushings begin to "pack out" contributing to the problem of slop at the end of the stick. With the stock bushings the slop will get worse and worse until not only does it become almost impossible to find the gear you want, but also dangerous if you need to quickly pick a gear and shift into it. By replacing the shift linkage bushings with our much stiffer polyurethane bushings side to side slop will be minimized, packing out will no longer be a problem, and your shifts will snap into place with much more positive engagement. All this with minimal NVH compared to stock.

The Kartboy Front and Rear Stay bushings replace the two soft rubber stay bushings that come stock on the car. There are two hard mounting points for the shift lever assembly, and Subaru (for some unknown reason) decided to use really soft rubber for each one. The problem this creates is a vague sloppy feeling in the fore/aft motion of the stick which just leaves you with a blah feeling when you shift the car. Kartboy's bushings fix this by using a much stiffer urethane to replace each one making the shifting experience much better than what you are used to. Each gear will snap into place with a nice positive click, and that vague feeling you get at the end of the stick travel will be gone.

Here is a quick tip for the install of the rear bushing: Look at the bushing - there is a top and a bottom. The thicker portion of the material goes to the bottom.

  1. good to go 5 Star Review

Excellent product. Gear stick feels better than new, nice and snappy. The only issue, which others have already alluded to, is transmission noise is increased significantly. There is a reason why Subaru used a soft compound for the rear stay bushing and that is to absorb vibration and hence sound. The noise does not really bother me after a bit of getting used to, but if it bothers you, keep the rear stay bushing stock.
    Overall, fantastic product.
P.S. I coated all friction points with a high quality grease during installation, and I definitely recommend it.

  2. Don't install the rear bushing! 4 Star Review

I wouldn't exactly call the NVH with this kit as 'minimal'. More like very substantial.

Just installed this kit on my 05 3.0RB 6spd Liberty and the gearbox noise inside the car was terrible. Bad enough for me to put the stock rear bushing back in the next day. Noise is almost back to stock levels and the gearstick doesn't feel any different to when the Kartboy rear bushing was installed.

  3. One Word: Awesome 5 Star Review

Just had the Bodacious Bushing Bundle installed in my Liberty 3.0R-B 6MT.
If you are contemplating using these bushings, stop thinking about it and just do it!
