Loading... Please wait...You should already know about the front stay bushing because it's pretty famous. In fact, this is usually the first mod anyone does to their Subaru. It's easy enough for a newbie, and the benefit is great enough for the old timers to enjoy it as well. As for the rear stay bushing - this one hasn't been on the market as long, but it quickly gaining in popularity. Heck, as long as you're in the area doing the front bushing, why not just do the rear at the same time? What these do: These bushings greatly enhance the feel of the stick by replacing the stock, super soft bushings with units that are made from a much stiffer urethane. The net result is a crisper and more solid feel in the forward and back motion of the stick.

Improved shifter feel 110% over stock. Easy to install and has total transformed the way and feeling of changing gears. Would definitely recommend this upgrade!

Fit perfect on my 1997 gc8 wrx. Made it super tight. No play now in gear changes. An easy install just be sure to install the correct way round. It created a stiffer throw better than my my16 sti.

Pretty easy to install, anyone with some mechanical knowledge should be able to pull this off in around an hour, by the time you get the car on jack stands etc etc. The kartboy shifter bush kit is an excellent mod to do. It significantly deceases the amount squishyness that the oem bushes have, the bush kit once installed gives you better feed back through the shifter along with gear shifts which can be made with more conviction, which in turn you are less likely to miss gears, NHV has not increased, overall well worth it.

Purchased these bushings coupled with a Kart boy Short Shifter Kit for my Subaru Forester 01 model.
Took me roughly 30-60 minutes to install along with the Short Shifter Kit. A bit fiddly but nothing impossible.
The feel of the bushings gives a nice stiffer feel to the shifting experience, the rebound is perfect, no more sloppy shifting and has changed the overall feel of each shift.
Recommended to anyone interested in a quick upgrade from sloppy shifting to a more sporty feel to the full driving experience.

I'll start with the bad, the rear shifter bushing is an absolute pain in the butt to get the screws lined up, I heated the rubber with a hair dryer to give it more flex to get the screws going. The front bushings went in like butter though - no issues whatsoever.
The result is a crisper feel from the gearbox changing gears, particularly 1st to 2nd doesn't kind of make you wait anymore. Also going into reverse is much improved and overall the shift feel is more solid. Was my first attempt at this and was a fair bit of effort for the result, but now that I've done it I'm confident I could do it again in half the time so am happy to recommend this product. A big tip that'll save you heartache: the rear crossmember bolts are incorrectly stated in the service manual as having a TQ specification of 70NM. They are actually 35NM. I stripped one of mine so am now in the process of sourcing a replacement from Subaru (through complaints) which I hopefully won't have to pay for.

This is a great DIY product for the price, I've installed it in two WRXs now.
Really tightens up the gear change and makes it easier to slot into first and reverse on an old 5 speed.
Even better if you install it with a Group N transmission mount and cross-member bushings.
